Understanding by Design® is a framework for improving student learning. Emphasizing the teacher's critical role as a designer of learning, UbDTM works within the standards-driven curriculum to help teachers clarify and prioritize learning goals (stage 1), devise revealing assessments of student understanding (stage 2), and craft effective and engaging learning activities (stage 3). - Based on UbD White Paper


Learning of concepts and skills designed into each unit of study is purposefully sequenced throughout the school year and spirals through grade levels. This ensures that students are able to acquire the necessary breadth and depth of understanding all throughout their learning years in ISM.
